Bharata Natyam helps in overall development of human body

New Delhi, Apr. 27 (ANI): Bharata Natyam dance is not only delightful to watch, but also helps learners to fulfill overall development of the mind and human body, said Nirmalananda Swamiji, head of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, Karnataka.

He was giving blessings while appreciating the arangetram (debut) of Ananya Nagaraj at the auditorium of Delhi Karnataka Sangha on Sunday.

Nirmalananda Swamiji hoped every parent would facilitate their children in taking an active part in performing arts.

The debut Bharata Natyam dance of Ananya was much appreciated by the audience, which included 'Varnam', 'Padam', 'Alaripu', 'Jattiswara' , 'Tillana' among other items.

She was trained in Bharatanatyam by the renowned teacher, Vidwan Shri Kolar Ramesh, who has helped stage over 3,200 performances in

difference parts of the world, including United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Thailand.

The arangetram by Ananya was the 34th in his career. The music was provided by Vidushi Vasudha Balakrishna, mridangam by Vidwan Janardhan, violin by Vidvan Subramanyam and flute by Yajnaraman.

Rajya Sabha member Osacar Fernandes inaugurated the programme. Reciting Sanskrit Shlokas, Fernandes said that learning music and dance helped an individual to achieve his or her potential. Bharata Natyam is a gift of our ancestors to all Indians, he said.

Central Silk board Chairman N.S. Bisse Gowda, Retired IAS officer J.Kamath, Former Principal Information Officer I.Ramamohan Rao,District Judge A.S.Jayachandra, MLA Kanthanoor Manjunath, Delhi Karnataka Sangha president Vasanth Shetty Bellare, Ananya's parents C.M. Nagaraja and Shobha Nagaraja and her Guru Vidhwan Kolara Ramesh were among those present on the occasion.
