Wellington, Jan 25 (ANI): After the execution of Japanese captive Haruna Yukawa by the Islamic State (IS), the country's social media users have started a meme war against IS fighters using photographs from the IS' hostage videos and digitally altering them in comical ways.

Memes are images or videos that are typically humorous in nature and are copied and spread by internet users, often with slight variations made to them.

According to Stuff.co.nz, the memes being created by Japanese people are very dark.

Tens of thousands of tweets have been posted by users with a hashtag saying "IS IS Crap Photoshop Grand Prix" over the past few days.
