CeBIT 2014 ended on Friday March 14, with a positive response from exhibitors and visitors. The consistent reorientation focusing on trade visitors struck home: “The business concept took effect,” says Oliver Frese, Deutsche Messe Managing Board. “92 % of our visitors were IT professionals. One third was from their company’s top management.”

CeBIT focused on the right issues: The lead theme Datability highlighted responsible handling of large amounts of data, 300+ start-ups brought an entrepreneurial spirit to Hannover, and top speakers like Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak passed the mike at CeBIT Global Conferences.

Hannover. This year's CeBIT further sharpened its profile as the world's leading IT event for decision-makers. The keynote themes season were Datability and Security. This year’s show led to total capital expenditures totaling some EUR 25 billion – an all-time high. As this year’s official Partner Country, Great Britain showcased its stunning IT achievements and outstandingly innovative spirit.

IT security is the most important issue in high-tech in 2014 according to a recent IT sector trend survey by the German Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM).

“CeBIT is a huge pleasure,” said British Prime Minister David Cameron on Sunday at CeBIT opening ceremony with German chancellor Angela Merkel. The British Ambassador from Berlin, Simon McDonald, added on the final day of the event, “and a huge success from the British standpoint!”
