WASHINGTON, U.S. - After U.S. President Donald Trump’s lawyer admitted that he paid the adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 in 2016 - she has now said she is “free to tell her story.”

On Wednesday, Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen told the New York Times that he paid the porn star Stephanie Clifford, who goes by the professional name ‘Stormy Daniels.’

Cohen, who calls himself Trump's ‘fix-it man,’ said in the statement, "Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly.”

He also stated that he told the Federal Election Commission the same after a watchdog group filed a complaint about the payment, claiming that it had served as an "in-kind" political contribution to Trump's campaign.

Cohen said, “The payment to Ms Clifford was lawful, and was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.”

Previously, the lawyer has said Trump "vehemently denies" it occurred.

The adult film star, who has for months now, been embroiled in allegations of an affair with U.S. President Donald Trump said through her managed that she is now free to tell her story.

Stormy Daniels’ manager Gina Rodriguez said that the star is no longer bound by a non-disclosure contract after Trump's lawyer admitted he paid her.

The statement from the porn star came the same day as Trump's personal lawyer confirmed in a statement to the media that he privately paid Daniels $130,000 in 2016.

Rodriguez has argued that the acknowledgement allows her client to speak freely.

She said on Wednesday, "Everything is off now, and Stormy is going to tell her story.”

Reports revealed late last year that the porn star was paid to remain silent about an encounter at Lake Tahoe, California, in 2006, a year after Trump married his third wife, Melania.

Meanwhile, Clifford first said she had a relationship with Trump in a 2011 interview.

During the interview with InTouch magazine, she said she began a sexual relationship with Trump in 2006, shortly after Melania Trump gave birth to his son Barron.

Last month, reports re-emerged with some stating that the porn star was made to sign a non-disclosure agreement in the run up to the 2016 election, which prevented her from discussing the alleged liaison.
