CALIFORNIA, U.S. - On Monday, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ net worth reached $105.1 billion, making him the richest person in history.

According to Bloomberg’s billionaire tracker, Bezos’ net worth eclipsed the record previously held by Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

The other major tracker of the net worth of the world's richest, Forbes put Bezos' net worth at a mere $104.4 billion.

However, after shares of Amazon rose 1.4 percent on Monday, it added about $1.4 billion to his net worth.

The majority of his net worth comes from the 78.9 million shares of Amazon stock Bezos owns.

So far this year, shares of Amazon are up nearly 7 percent, after rising 56 percent in 2017.

Apart from Amazon, Bezos' other holdings include the Washington Post and Blue Origin, a private space travel business that intends to take tourists to space.

In July last year, Bezos secured the title of world’s richest person and even briefly passed Bill Gates.

But in October, he moved back ahead of Gates.

Then, in November, he first crossed the $100 billion net worth mark at the start of the holiday shopping season.

According to Forbes, the Microsoft founder is now worth $91.9 billion, and $93.3 billion according to Bloomberg.

Forbes has reported that his net worth was briefly above $100 billion back in April 1999, when the internet stock bubble helped to inflate the value of his holdings.
