WASHINGTON, U.S. - As Ivanka Trump prepares to participate in the inauguration of Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India’s Hyderabad city with the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi - a big clash awaits.

The clash is set to be between U.S. President Donald Trump's ‘America First’ and Narendra Modi's ‘Make in India’ vision.

However, even before the clash emerges more prominently, a senior U.S. administration official said that President Trump's assertion of America First and Prime Minister Modi's call to ‘Make in India’ are not mutually exclusive or contradictory.

The official said in a conference call previewing the visit that "America First is not at the exclusion of rest of the world...most governments prioritize people of their country, but that is not in a vacuum.”

The official, however, maintained that the Trump administration believed in strong engagement and collaboration with India to grow economies of both countries.

Ivanka Trump meanwhile said that she is looking forward to meeting Modi and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj in Hyderabad, and is excited to attend a summit that is being co-hosted by India and the United States for the first time and has been themed on women's entrepreneurship.

The Presidential advisor said in an upbeat assessment of economic and security ties between the two countries, "This year's Global Entrepreneurship Summit is a testament to the strong partnership between India and U.S.”

The assessment came despite differences on issues such as movement of people, trade imbalance, and visas.

Trump's aides referred questions about Hyderabad rounding up beggars from the streets surrounding the summit venue to the state government while essaying a homily about India's commitment to eradicating poverty.

Reviewing the program, Trump said she would be participating in the opening day inauguration with Prime Minister Modi on November 28.

She would also be delivering the keynote address before taking part in two panels on November 29 on women's entrepreneurial leadership and women in the workforce.

Trump's trip to India and participation in the women's entrepreneurship themed GES comes amid a furore in the U.S. over predatory sexual behaviour by many prominent older American men towards young women.
