How Trump sold a lie for years: The phoney Time magazine saga exposes a harsh truth about the American President

You’re Fired!

WASHINGTON, U.S. - The internet, along with the rest of America was madly enthused on Tuesday after a report narrated a story of a real lie that Donald Trump has been selling. > BNN
A fake magazine cover that promotes the man who once filled television screens and caused terror every single time he yelled, ‘You’re Fired!’
And the sham magazine cover wasn’t just any random magazine - it was the Time Magazine cover, dated March 1, 2009.
It features the president wearing a black suit and a stern expression, with his arms crossed.
One cover line reads, “Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” while the second reads, “Trump is hitting on all fronts... even TV!”
Two of the smaller headlines feature stories on President Barack Obama, climate change, and the financial crisis and these were reportedly taken from the genuine 2 March 2009 edition of Time.
The original cover star was Oscar-winner Kate Winslet.
The story exposed by The Washington Post started that the fake cover adorned the walls in several of the president’s golf clubs and now the spokesperson for Time Magazine said that they had asked by Kerri Chyka, a spokeswoman for Time Inc. the Trump Organization to remove the fake cover.
Time even said that there was no March 1, 2009 issue of the magazine.
The fake Time Magazine cover has been displayed at the billionaire’s resort in Doral, outside Miami; in the members' dining room at the Trump golf course in Loudoun County, Virginia, the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
It has also been spotted at Trump's golf club in Doonbeg, Ireland, and at the Turnberry club in Scotland - where staff confirmed it was removed a few weeks ago.
The real news about President Trump’s fake news lit up the Internet almost immediately, giving birth to several more, some even better, sham Time magazine covers.
The Trump organisation has, however, remained mum in the face of a barrage of questions it faced from both the media and the social media on the matter.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee said in a statement, "We couldn't comment on the decor at Trump golf clubs one way or another.”
Trump has not only appeared on countless real magazine covers - both before and after taking office, also found his face plastered on the Playboy March 1990.
In a January speech at the CIA's headquarters, Trump even bragged about having more covers than anyone else, saying, "I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time magazine."
However, the facts he boasted on the back of were wrong.
In 2014, Time magazine noted that an earlier U.S. president had appeared a whopping 55 times on the cover.
In March 2017, when Trump was informed of the error, he said, “I'm sure I'll win.”
Earlier too, during an interview last year, when Trump was a candidate, he offered a mental tally of how many times he had appeared on the magazine’s cover.
He said, “I think I was on the cover of Time Magazine twice in my life and like six times in the last number of months. So you tell me, which is more important, real estate or politics, okaI have six for politics and I have two for real estate or whatever they put me on for.”
