Regula Venske is the new president of German branch of PEN organization

Regula Venske, Authour and Journalist is the new president of the German branch of the PEN organization. The members voted on Friday last week in Dortmund after her predecessor, Josef Haslinger, chose to not to stand for re-election. She was Secretary General to the PEN Center for a long time.

Founded in 1921 in England, the PEN has expanded across the globe, working to give a voice to those writers and authors who are threatened.

After being elected as the President of the German Pen Center, Regula Venske pledged to strengthen her pen against Germany's right-wing political ideology, and pledged to continue working for the oppressed, suppresed and continuously threatened writers around  the world. Alongside, the German Pen Center announced to be stronger. 

Mrs Venske is Known for her book published 1995 political thriller, "Opernball,"  61-year-old Vinske, wants to fight for freedom of speech, as a pen-president in his own country. She has also criticized Turkey and Russia for their lack of freedom of expression.
