Berlin: 10 Feb - The 67th Berlin International Film Festival is introducing its first ever award section for Asian movies.

As reported on ECNS, according to Shen Dongjun, the Secretary-General of the Asian Film & Television Promotion (AFTP), the new section, known as Asian Brilliant Stars" is a joint initiative between them and the Berlinale; to highlight Asian movies and its cultural and social heritage.

"With the growing influence of the ABS, it will contribute to the integration of Asian films to the rest of the world and also help promote the development of the Eurasian film market," said Sheng.

The ABS will honor Asia's Best Director, Screenwriter, and Producer, which will be announced on 12 February.

Although it only has three categories this year, the committee is hoping that it will cover more categories in the future.

On the other hand, according to the press release of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, three personalities will be awarded the Berlinale Camera - film producer and distributor Shi Nansun (Hong Kong, China), actor Geoffrey Rush (Australia), and film critic and author Samir Farid (Egypt).
